What is MANopause?

MANopause was a term coined by a 2014 Time magazine article of the same name. While menopause affects women and is a natural decline of the female hormone estrogen, MANopause (also known as andropause) affects men, and is a progressive reduction of the male hormone testosterone. Testosterone is vital for building and maintaining bone mass, muscle mass, strength, and the production of red blood cells and sperm.

Tips for preventing Low T

A few simple lifestyle changes may help maintain your overall health, and healthy testosterone levels, including:

  • Get between 7-8 hours of sleep per night
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Exercise regularly (at least 30 minutes per day)
  • Practice daily stress management to minimize stress
  • Review medications with your doctor to make sure they aren’t causing a drop in testosterone

What are the signs and symptoms of MANopause, or Low T?

Low Testosterone levels may cause a number of symptoms, including:

  • Decreased libido
  • Difficulty getting or maintaining an erection
  • Decreased energy
  • Depression
  • Irritability and mood swings
  • Loss of muscle mass or strength
  • Increased body fat around the abdomen and chest
  • Hot flashes
  • Dry, thinning skin
  • Excessive sweating
  • Reduced concentration

Low T treatment options

At SynergenX, we treat Low T with hormone replacement therapy (HRT). We tailor your treatment and dose to your individual needs, and continually adjust your dose as your T levels rise and fall. This strategy helps most men achieve a marked, positive change and a reinvigorated life and sense of self.
